Polo Tuition

Francis Matthews.
Francis started playing polo in the summer of 1991 when a friend invited him to help her with her new boss's string of ponies. Tracey's boss,Kenney Jones was playing regularly at RCBPC,and in return for helping out, Kenney got Francis stick and balling on one of his steady ponies. The habit became an addiction, and Francis soon began to acquire a string of his own.
In 1995, he joined KCPC, and went from strength to strength going to -1 in his first season and to 0 in his second. "I think the craziest thing I did was to agree to play in the 10 goal Festival of Polo at RCBPC in 1998.I remember it cost an absolute fortune, and whenever I got to see the ball, all I heard was LEAVE EET in a strong argentine accent! Oh, and we lost!"
More recently he has enjoyed travelling to various clubs for low goal tournaments,"It's great to meet new people and see how other clubs operate.".
He has also particularly enjoyed visiting some of the privately run yards around Cowdray Park and being invited to play chukkas with some of the highest ranking polo professionals in the country, some of whom regularly play for England.

West End Farm
West End Farm is run by Jackie and John, and they specialise in Western riding. They have a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere, and all the people involved are very approachable.

Plans for the future.

The response last summer was tremendous, due largely to the new 'S' handicap thus allowing instructional players to become members. We also had a tremendous record pass rate of 10 out of 11 at the CP umpire test in August.

Thanks to all the members again for encouraging me to press ahead with plans for the affiliation, we now have been recognised by the HPA as a fully affiliated club!
